PR No. 370 The life and teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) provide enlightened guidance toward fostering peace and harmony in the world, Zeenat Ziyad, a scholar on Islam said at the Pakistani embassy in Washington, where Pakistani-American women and wives of Islamic countries’ ambassadors and Pakistani diplomats gathered to celebrate Eid Milad un Nabi. In their speeches, speakers underlined the importance of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) message of peace, justice, fairness, equality and brotherhood for the world today. They particularly highlighted the respect and rights the Holy Prophet (PBUH) ensured for the women. Women, they said, played an important role in various fields of life. As mothers and teachers they are central to building societies. The teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) have proved to be an everlasting source for bringing up children on the basis of morality, truth and integrity. Welcoming the large gathering of Muslim women, on behalf of Ms. Farahnaz Ispahani, Member National Assembly and wife of Ambassador Husain Haqqani, Ms. Leena Moazzam, a senior officer of the Embassy said that through His messenger, Allah gave the message of peaceful coexistence and well being for all humanity and if the world today discards confrontation and violence in favour of collective betterment of all, people can live in peace and harmony. PR No. 371 Federal Minister for Minority Affairs Shehbaz Bhatti has congratulated Hindus community all over the world and Pakistan on the day of Holi on Sunday. He said Holi is a festival of happiness, joys and togetherness. In a statement, Federal Minister stated that all religion teach, peace, love, and equality. No religion teaches hate and injustice. We all congratulate Hindu brothers on this auspicious occasion of Holi. Teachings of religions are to be spread, to promote them at this time when world has so many challenges. Federal Minister said present democratic government has decided to celebrate religious occasion of all minorities of the country. This is to recognize their services in the movement and in the development of Pakistan. Federal Minister further said that PPP government is very keen to promote religious freedom, interfaith harmony, and equality. It is working for these principals and for the uplift of minority,. PR No. 372 Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has increased the salaries of the staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan with effect form 1st July, 2009 to bring it at the level with the salaries of the staff of the Lahore High Court. The increase has been accorded by the Prime Minister to further enhance the efficiency and dedication of the staff towards good governance. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the focus of all the institutions of the state would be the common people of Pakistan. The state, he added can only fulfill its responsibility of welfare and betterment of the people when all the institutions are functioning harmoniously toward this objective with determination and commitment.

No. 373 Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has expressed deep shock over the loss of precious lives in a massive earthquake that hit the Chile and sympathized with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria. In his message to the Chilean President, the Prime Minister said “Excellency, We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the massive earthquake that has hit your beautiful country. We mourn the loss of precious life and completely sympathize with Your Excellency and the people of Chile in bearing this enormous national calamity. I assure you of Pakistan’s total support and solidarity in this hour of trial”.
